Cricket, Cornwall June 06

By pikey
The end of a holiday, Cornwall. June.

I wanted to capture this image of the garden of the house that I stayed with fourteen friends on holiday.

The garden had become our cricket pitch for the week, and as the sun dissappeared each evening I promised myself to capture this scene.

With more than a passing nod to a couple of photographers who's work I deeply respect (Nadav Kander, Todd Hido), I wanted to try and encapsulate not only the quiet sadness of night but also the feeling of bleakness of ending such a great week with great company....Works for me, I guess it won't fly off the shelf here, but hey ho....

what's intetesting is comparing this image with the architectural photographs in your portfolio. Your fascination with clean angles, lines and graphic shapes is atill very much apparent in this image.

Thanks for the helpful description of your thought process.

The photo description answers question raised by the inital glance. You've done what you set out to do with this shot.

Been wondering where you've been...

Very nice shot, Tim. Even before reading your description, Nadav Kander popped instantly to mind. Smile

Still alive, then?

Good to see a rare upload. And a cheery number, too!

Seriously, it's a stylish and mature image that makes you look closer. Although I'd probably have no idea what it was about without the description...
