Crunchy Frog

By woolybill1
A selection of Mrswoolybill's favourite scarves draped over her best coat in our hall. Yesterday afternoon they were hanging around with nothing better to do, so I shot them without mercy...

The apparition on the right lapel is a tree frog brooch, bought a few years ago from Accessorize. I just couldn't help the title, really. Fans of Monty Python will probably know every word of the 'Crunchy Frog' sketch from Series One Episode 6 and 'Red Indian In Theatre' from the same episode. They're easy to find on the web.

38mm, 1/60th sec @ f8, ISO 200; window light, on-camera fill-in flash and a small white reflector.

when i saw the title of this it for some reason reminded me of the bit from only fools & horses when del asks trigger if he remembers freddy the frog & trigger says well no but i do remember torchy the battery boy! i'm off to check out the mp script after this.

i like this bill as it shows an acute awareness of the way colours somehow naturally fall together & it tells us that mrs woolly bill has a liking for purples & cerise. the frog broach sits well in this abstract view. funny how we spot things like this.

have a nice week gerry

An everyday image which would go unnoticed by many turned into a work of art. Well done.

Well, beyond MrsWoolybill's obvious good taste in neckwear (not sure about men tho' Wink ) and the amazing powers of your sharp eye and Nikkor lens, all in all I think this is a smashing piece of still life.
Nice coat and frog by the way - there's a hat or two missing, or doesn't the squaw have any of those ?
Thanks also for my rediscovering a couple of Python sketches. I remember watching the repeats with my parents in the seventies, but by the time I was old enough to appreciate them they were no longer being repeated Sad

I thought I was lucky to have all our coats, scarves etc; under the stairs behind a closed door.....seeing this image I realise how wrong I was.
Well spotted Bill, a lovely image.

love the colors in the scarves, the only thing that surprises me is....I'd had figured the brooch would be an "EEL" Wink A very productive afternoon Bill, indeed.

Great shot Bill and love the patterns; I'm probably being very sad, but it reminds me of a computer game fromt my youth with the busy road to cross Smile

Like Hilary,we too keep them all behind a closed door.I NEVER thought of all the little details there!!Good capture of the texture, colour and detail of the fabric here Bill. The addition of the frog is a fine extra detail. As for a new brooch, may I suggest a certain type of American Tortoise!!!!!!!!

What a great idea Bill! I like to play 'guess what it is' with the thumbnails on EPZ (Yes, I know - sad eh?) before I open up the photo and I was really puzzling over this one! Great observation, brilliantly executed.

You have great eye Bill. The whole world looks totally different to us Toggers.I get comments when I see something and say "that would make a good shot" and looks as if I was green.
Brilliant opportunism.

Just popped back to comment on this as I didn't have time the other day. This is a super, well thought-out shot. The scarves, which looks so randomly placed, are perfect for colour and impact - patterned, plain, patterned, plain, patterned - and all stand out so well against the dark lapel adorned with the bright tree frog.
