"Culross Palace"

By RonnieAG
Another image from my day in Fife with Graham.........Culross Palace, a late 16th. early 17th. Cent. merchant house. It was built by Sir George Bruce who was a successful merchant, trading with the Baltic area and low countries. Many of the materials used in the construction were imported via his trading links, e.g. Baltic pine, red pantiles and Dutch floor tiles.
Although never a royal residence James VI visited in 1617.
The Palace is now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland.

My thanks to all who commented on Walking Through History and with special thanks to Andy {andylea2} for his User Award.

Ronnie.

How beautiful. I remember this house.. the lovely light and sky..A wonderful place to be. Love the color. I don't have any digital image. I might have some film ones, but I have no clue where they are now... Thanks for sharing, Ronnie.

A gorgeous photo with vibrant rich colors, Ronnie! Interesting architecture even if not what one usually thinks of as a palace!

In amazingly good shape for its age - must have been a joy to visit - no doubt with a tearoom
somewhere too? I love all the plants pots dotted around and the carefully manicured flower beds to the right.

A good composition showing the buildings, I did not know they had 17th century gardens out at the rear palace one to remember. The colour and the red pantiles certainly give this almost a Italian or Mediterranean feel, the red pantiles were used on many of the roofs throughout the village adding to its charm. The mustard colour certainly daws you in I do have a capture of you capturing this shot. Another reminder of a sunny warm and pleasant Jaunt.

Ps Thanks for the email, yes it is grim up here today

I was thinking Mediterranean as well especially with that blue sky. The colours do work well together.
