Cycad & Stag Horn

By Hermanus
The seed of a Cycad. From Wikipedia:Cycads are seed plants whose fossils are first found in the early Permian period. They were very common in the Mesozoic era, the age of the dinosaurs, and are still living, but are now much less common.
V2 - a Stag horn plant - I do not know their real name Smile They get their sustenance from the air.
Thank you so much to Isabel and Alex for gracing my Pincushion with their UA's - and also to all who took the time to vote and comment !!
Heavy rains and snow is predicted for us for the next few days - bye bye Spring, hello winter Smile

V.1 is amazing, Herman, is it edible? I love V.2, it always amazes me how these ferns exist. This one looks so healthy, and certainly lives up to its name Smile Carol

I had forgotten about the staghorn fern my grandmother had them and I never really took any notice of them just the name. A marvel and I am so glad to hear they are still going strong Vi is a novelty for me, what an amazing world and we learn so much here. Thanks Herman.
A wonderful colour V1. Well done Herman.

WOW...I took pictures of the same earlier this year but the colour was nothing like this!!! Mine was a pale-ish orange. And I didn't know this was a seed. Always thought it was a fruit or something. Super shot.

Lovely shot of the staghorn fern in V2 too. I love staghorns. Elkhorns too, which are the furry variety of this fern.
