Día de los Muertos

By Joline
Dating back over 3000 years the Day of the Dead continues to honor our loved ones who have gone.
Like many Mesoamerican peoples, the Aztecs viewed grief as disrespectful to the dead. Rather than mourn the loss of loved ones, they opted to celebrate their spirits, culminating in the earliest edition of the Day of the Dead.

I didn't know about the Day of the Dead until recently when we had some images sent from Mexico for an inter club competition. Sounds grim but it seems to be a celebration of life.

I first learned about "Day of the Dead" when my girls were in Jr. High--maybe 40 years ago-- rarely remember to celebrate it as I did not like the gruesome images--- Your image and text casts it is a different light!

They've really got them packed in there, Joline, hardly room to swing a cat.

Interesting story, and a fine image captured here, Joline, the toning suits it perfectly 👍
