Daddy's Hands

By winterflood
This was taken last week for a client with their newborn son - he was 3 weeks old and a great model (sleeping throughout most of the shoot!). It's my first real newborn shoot (except of my own baby) so feedback welcomed. Thanks in advance...

cracking shot with just one minor point, the knees showing in the bottom of the frame are too subtle. I personaly think that they should either be in the shot or not and they are just noticable enough to be distracting.

See mod.
Acidentally uploaded twice Sad

Love this shot though.

This is a lovely, touching shot that has been treated superbly. It works great in mono and I dont think you would have had the same impact in full colour. The only thing I would change here is to darken the background a little more. I'm assuming what I can see in the bottom left is the father sat down and thats his jeans? I think this would be a perfect image with the baby and hands seemingly floating in the middle of a black box. Amending your use of DOF having done that, so that the whole image was sharp, as opposed to the just the centre of the image would also be something I would try. It's all experimenting, but the image is very good without doing anything with it, could just be made even better with a little tweaking in my opinion. Hope this helps. Ryan

Lovely shot, well thought out and executed.

Agree with the comment re knees, and loaded a mod with one more knee removed, - just something different.
