A wild male Black Grouse (Lyrurus tetrix) taken in the driving rain near Aviemore, Cairngorms National Park, in April. The lekking season for these birds had begun, but at the time of taking this image no females had turned up. The males looked pretty dejected and disappeared after a very short displaying time.
