Lucy the exposure is spot on, but the centre is a little soft because of the lack of depth of field you get as this close range. If you attempt this again try taking two shots, one focused as is so the edges are sharp and one on the centre. Then in your image editing program cut the sharp middle section out and paste it over the soft version to combine the best of both. Also it would be better if you hadn't cut the bottom off...only small detail though! Bet you're pleased with the new camera...

Excellent tip Pete, thanks for that, I'll give it a go. I am not too clever with the image editing software yet, just sold my darkroom stuff to get camera & photoshop, so its like learning all over again! Yep, I know I cut the bottom off, really, the photo was taken to see the close-up ability of the D10 and how it coped with something so fine. I think it is really ipressive, I used the large/fine 6.3 megapixel low compression size, and its awsome compared to my point and shoot A20!
