De Hoop Carne

By sherlob
De Hoop (The Hope) is a magnificent beach that forms part of the De Hoop Nature reserve in the Western Cape of South Africa. The beach is simply stunning - miles and miles of deserted white sand and a perfect spot to watch for Southern Right Whales in the Indian ocean. This place is off the beaten track and I had hoped to do some astrophotography here - as you can see the cloudy conditions prevented that (as did my miscalculation of the moon's phase, but the less said about that the better).

Imagine my surprise when arriving here to find on top off one dune a table set for a formal dinner complete with guests and waiter service? Fabulously eccentric!

Looks as if it wasn't a completely wasted trip, Adam, even if the moon was in the wrong place at the wrong time.Wink
