Death From Above

I know its not a technically great shot, the sky was murky and I had only 1 chance to get the pic. With photos like this is it a case of you have to set up and just hope the shot you want emerges or is there a technique or trick I could use. Obviously being in the right time at the right time is a million to one chance so how do I take better advantage of situations like this?

I don't like to be picky on peoples hard work but your title is technically wrong. The bird is clearly a red kite and like a vulture it eats carrion so unlike a raptor would not take & kill prey unless it was already dead. I like the picture despite its problems with focusing

Lol, I didn't think of that when naming it. I'm hoping to get some better ones soon of the kite as there are dozens around where I live!
