Death of a Queen

By chase
Another from my 'Chess' series, lit from behind this time.

Where the idea came from for the 'underwater' look I don't know... but i like it......looks good printed on nice matt paper.

This is the one I shall be entering into my Camera Club's next competition, the theme is 'Abstract/Derivitive'...a subject very much open to interpretation I suspect & will really depend on how open minded the judge is on the night.

Lots of JP'ery in photoshop, but I'm that kinda girl Wink

Constructive crit very welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to look/comment.

Pretty cool that Janet, think you could do well, but no bribing the judge.

Wow -- what deep recesses of your mind conjured this up? If I were a judge, this would be my number one pick on sheer creativity alone. On top of that, you started with a great shot and did some wonderful manipulation. I like your attention to detail -- like the bubbles trailing up from the poor queen.
Nicely done.

Walter,I really don't know where this came from, something just sceamed 'underwater' at me so off I went....maybe it's my age Wink

Eloo Jan !

mmm , its a great concept but perhaps not quite finished yet.

That you are juxtaposing the fishies with a known scale elevates it straight into the surreal (love it) but the cam judges are prob a bit blind to that creativity.

And , on looking looks a colour pop though its deffo not.

Id have a play at re-positioning the fish , scaling larger (they are a bit small in the frame) and whacking some more bubbly stuff for depth.

Oh , and maybe cross balance the pp for a little warmth to match the wheels Wink

Slapped a mod ( I want to to slap a mod hahaha)

Thanks everyone.

That's a nice mod Dave, glad you dropped by.
I do like the extra fishies & the bubbles ( I bet you used a special 'make yer own bubbles' brush huh ? ) I like the colour pallette but...there had to be a but didn't there ?..I don't know if the colours actually say 'water',or am I being too realistic there ?
Nope,no colour pop to be seen !

I realise that but hey ho,it's gonna be different to all the rest ! Wink

Chalk and cheese compared to the previous image Jan. That I found well boring quite frankly whereas this is altogether more creative. Anyone could do t'other one, not many could envisage or realise this one. TBH this would work better for me without the fish and bubbles but then again they do no harm so I won't niggle about them.

Quite like Janet, only comment I would make if you were to add / reposition the fish, I would look broom left, to give it a bit if ballance as more is happening on LHS of the frame.

Sorry Janet, auto text always gets me. Should read bottom left.

Re-reading it I made a right ?@"&@s 0f the original comment.

What I was trying to say, most of the action (if that's the right word) is happening on the RHS. There's a bit of negative space on the LHS another fish would balance the other two.

well big suprise....was looking to see what goldfish usage we had on epz....before going ahead with an idea, and took a shine to this...little details of the bubbles and overall look brilliant........then saw it was you !

Never ever had you down as someone bothered about camera clubs let along judging results was a big suprise......
