Decline and fall

By Ericsamson
Missed Film Friday so Celluloid Saturday it'll have to be. 🥴
An image of 'The Severn Stars'; what was once a thriving and popular pub in our town has gone the way of so many others. Not being much of a drinker I've never been in it but it's a terrible shame to see it in this state. I took the photographs last week and noticed that some heavy machinery was parked up around the back. I suspect its days are numbered.
Taken using the Pentax SuperProgram using Kodak 400 ASA film; I had left the camera on 200 ASA from the previous film. What a pillock! Lucky not to have had any serious duds! 🤣
Best wishes to all, G. 🙂

You clearly don't know your ASA from your elbow 😄

Love to know why ASA became ISO and DIN disappeared

I couldn't imagine using film these days. Full marks for your endeavours

Another pub has to close, Covid or lack of money by the drinkers. I think it will get worse before it gets any better, if ever! I do not think it makes a great difference from rating it at 400 instead of 200 asa, Graham. The film has a bit of latitude, and PhotoShop can usually sort it out!

Sad to see popular places has to lock down Graham.
Two fine film photos.

Love the Roman style doorway, Graham a very interesting frontage.
But, like the Romans, the downfall of this pub is inevitable.
Unless it's a listed building of course.
Thankfully, bulldozers make good subject matter for photography.

Last orders have been called, and "Time, Gentlemen, please! Let's be having your glasses! Haven't you got homes to go to?" The final landlord's lock-in has finished and the glasses collected for the last time...

I'll raise my glass in salute later...

This a familiar story--pub closes down, gets demolished & replaced by a block of flats

Sad to see another thriving business biting the dust. Hardly surprising with this place though. How were the customers supposed to get in, they've boarded up the windows and blocked the door. Blush

Sad to see, Graham!
I suspect the next 'Entertainment' will be a free view of its demolition!!

So sad to see pubs go like this 😢 There's a pub I pass on going uptown on the bus, just before getting into the city centre, been there donkey's years, and it's been closed for quite some time, and recently it's all been boarded up like this. Another old pub uptown has recently gone the same way. My local pub closed down several years ago and is now a Tesco Express. What's the world coming to? 😳

Once a pub reaches the depths of having to show live sport it's doomed....unless it really is live, like darts or skittles of course!
