DECOMMISSIONED TRAINS

By dimalexa
Theme: Graffiti - Little graffiti, more withdrawl.
Greece, Athens, Thission - 01/05/2012
Focal Length: 38.82mm (217mm equiv.)

My friends, today was a very bad day for me. I went to my office in the morning and I saw it hacked from the balcony door. All my photo equipment (11 cameras + 13 lens for Canon + flashes, tripods, etc) and laptop and many other things, were stolen. I feel like they stole my soul... Now I have nothing about photo equipment, and I'm not sure that I'll be able to buy new. As used, they cost more that 6.000,00 .
I'll try to stay in ePHOTOzine with my old photos, but I'm mentally wreck, I don't know if I can make it.

Friendly, Dimitris

Oh I am so so sorry, all our worst nightmares...sounds liked you're decommissioned too. I am not surprised you are down, I wouldn't stop crying...how awful that thieves think they can break in and destroy our lives...

OMG...That is terrible. I'd be so angry. If you've got a cell phone, it's amazing how good the cameras in them are. For now you could use it.

Thanks for your encouraging words, Sandy! I have a NOKIA with 2 MP camera, I think there is not worst. I always hated the mobile photos, this is my opinion, of course... Optimism, first of all...

What a horrible thing to do to you. there are so many desperate unthinking people in the world. I hope in time you can recover from this Dimitris.... you have a passion for photography as anyone can see...they can never steal that way from you my friend.

This is awful news, Dimitris ! I suppose there was no business insurance ?
Fortunately, they can not steal your great talent !
Maybe it's a small consolation, but..... ''the photographer takes the picture, not the camera''

I wish you much strength today my friend Dimitris

Hi, Dimalexa,

So sorry to learn of the devastating loss of all your photographic gear and computer, that must be very hard to bear.

But......as someone else has already written.......They HAVE NOT stolen your obvious talent and enthusiasm.....I am sure, that after the initial shock has worn off, you will bounce back with whatever equipment comes to hand. After this, you will acquire, replacements...... I am sure, that there are many EPZ members like myself with the odd spare camera that could be sent to you.

But you might be inundated, with far more than you can cope with......perhaps better to wait to see if a local member close to you can help.....or.....your insurance replaces items.

Should you really be stuck.....`I have a Panasonic GF1 with a vintage lens attached......this would get you over the bad patch.

Just PM me if it will help.

Sorry to hear your awful news. Please know i'm thinking of you and like someone else said it's not the camera but the photographer who makes the photo. Stay strong and things will come good again. Geoff

sounds like a real disaster
good thing you were not physically hurt in the process
but please do not give up
even with a simple point-and-shoot camera you will remain what you are: an artist at heart capable of keeping up good and creative work regardless of the tools at your disposal
as someone said, cheer up, the worst is yet to come !

Thank you Walt for your supporting words. The reality is that I still have not realized the true extent of the loss of all these my favorite "toys". I try to be calm and optimistic.

You are absolutely right, Leo, it is good I was not physically hurt. Material goods can be acquired again, but for me the matter is more emotional. Anyway, this will enter in proper perspective and I will try to return to normality. Thank you very much for all nice words,
