Deep in the forest.

I think woodland photography can be difficult at the best of times, however this time of year I really struggle. I did manage to find a damp mossy area which I tried various compositions to bring out the dark, damp atmosphere.

I love the richness of the moss, illuminated by the light penetrating the canopy above, and the scene disappearing into the darkness behind. It has the atmosphere and intrigue of Mirkwood.

I think the composition works well…one branch leading you into the picture and then others further back taking your eye to the left.
