Derbyshire Patchwork

By ardbeg77
The west arm of Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire snakes up into the valley, through patchworked fields and cloud shadows. Taken from the top of Win Hill earlier in the week.

Thanks for looking!

Good position for a rather fine image of the Derbyshire countryside, is the foreground heather?, those scoured patches, according to someone I spoke to in Yorkshire dales is to do with the Grouse habitat, and the Glorious 12th, if your not a Grouse that isSad

Thanks Nigel! Yes, the dark brown is heather. The bare areas in between coudl well be grouse management - I had assumed it was some kind of fire break, but the grouse reason is probably more likey (we did see a couple).

Nice work.
I could easily sit there with a picnic.

What a range of different colours, indeed a patchwork! Doing a bit of hillwalking, Steve?

It's a lovely place: though I have to admit that I'd most like to have been there on one of the days you could watch an Avro Lancaster flying along not far above the level of the road...

Hi Ian. Thanks! Yes - had a few days off and tried to make the best of the weather. It's a good climb up Win Hill when the legs have had a few months off!

Absolutely! Would be my dream to have watched it do the fly down the valley on the anniversary a year or two ago.
