Derry Walls and Guildhall

By LMK_Photography
View on Derry's historic walls, I was looking for a shot that captures some of the walls but also the Guildhall. Due to dark shadows and bright sky and also I wanted this image to be very vibrant, I elected to shoot this in HDR. The walls are very difficult to shoot because they are situated in the city centre and now have a lot of signs and lights attached to them which in my opinion spoils many views of them.

You really must not use a logo like that when putting an image up for comment. It destroys any effect you may have wanted.

A decent pictorial record with the faint suggestion of HDR? You give us no technical information to go on.

Strange to see a sign like that in such a road! You need to be a limbo dancer to get under it.

Good image, not much room for improvement. The composition with the diminishing rails and cannon is really good. It would be better without the board on the railings but I guess it would have been difficult to not include it. The logo does not bother me as I can ignore them when appraising a picture. You have some great images in your portfolio. Good work.

Its a good image overall. Doesnt look overly HDR which is a good thing. I wonder if you made the hdr from multiple shots, or a single shot, as the clouds top right are overblown in some areas, and a multiple shot hdr would have had handled the very bright areas.

Distortion at 17mm is handled well.

You can make you logo invisible quite easily, so only you know how to see it, - and it also prevebts anyone stealing the shot from simply cloning it out. There may be something in the techniques section of the site, or if I remember right, jestertheclown has something on his blog.

Thx Willie I'll check into that logo thing, shot was 3 exposures, can't ssee to much over exposure in the clouds but thx for the feedback.
