Devastating Views

By jeronius
My week in the lakes last week was a wake up call to the complete devastation they encountered during the storms in December. Shops, bars hotels and places Like the department store Booths in Keswick are all still just getting their feet back on the ground.

Driving down the side of Ullswater and seeing litter and broken boats from the storms and residential homes with great big industrial dehumidifiers was a stark wake up call to their suffering, not to mention the A591 that joins Ambleside and Keswick among other villages along this way.

Having spoken to many locals and workers in the area, one thing is clear....Their determination and resilience to build back their homes and work places was astonishing.

A very beautiful scene here, Jerry, but so terrible for the people in that area Smile
