With a house full of kids surprised you were able to get this, never works for me when my daughter has her crew here! Great effect, but for some reason I find myself more drawn to the shadows, they look really good! Spot On! Click!!!

Nice idea, I bet this took at few shots, like the "dominoes"

thanks! no, sue, i don't have the patience for that. i took exactly three, before i posted this - the second of the three. i was lucky.

i tried again later, and realized just how lucky i'd been. i went on to shoot some random white things collected around the house.

Just amazing, I've tried that as well, but perhaps i'd require a better camera, your result is great, congrats, well done. CLick

thanks all!

benedict, the half a second exposure was the key ingredient. not sure if you have control over that with what you use, but it helps to have the shallow dof, too, i think.

glad you like it.

Yeah, well my tiny crock of... Sony p&s isn't quite "up to scratch". But again I must point out: your capture is just amazing.

Watcha Lucie,
like your dominoes, and all of your other, non people stuff, all very creative. I'm not a people man, can't get enthusiastic about pics of people. Which, of course, makes it rather odd that my latest offering is of people, but, it was an excersise in low light rather than people, that's my excuse. Anyway, thanks for the comment, there was only one shot, out of 3, that gave anything recognisable, so, that's it.

great shot here. love the technique of doing this, very good idea you've had! Maybe a slightly slower speed or letting them sit a second or to more before tipping them over, so you can see them standing upright more.

yes, i see, that would create a different feel. because the first ones are already lying flat, one might feel like one has missed something. thank you for the comment.
