Dolt ex machina

By Ericsamson

I have been swamped by a letter from a Mrs Trellis of North Wales.

'Dear Mr Joystick

I’ve only ever seen you wearing a flying helmet. What do you look like in the flesh, or better still reflected in the paintwork some nicely restored vintage locomotives?

Yours Mrs Trellis of North Wales.'

Well Mrs Trellis, ever eager to oblige I made straight for some heritage railway lines and snapped a few reflective selfies. Must dash as I’m off to see my analyst about my narcissistic personality disorder.

Yours subject to a range of medical interventions

Cyril Joystick

Taken at Broadway and Paignton stations. The reflections are thankfully sketchy - in one I am reduced to little more than a thin line of lime green - and in the steam train a couple of elbows and a bit of a paunch. The most ‘explicit’ image (ooh Matron!) has been heavily cropped so as to dispense with the egregious ‘muffin top’. Any association with ‘Vulcan’ and ‘Braveheart’ are entirely coincidental and utterly ludicrous.

With many thanks for the votes and humorous comments on my previous upload, Cyril. SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

NB Mrs Trellis is the well known correspondent whose epistles grace most episodes of "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue." [Radio 4]

Dear Mrs Trellis, the one-woman solo Chinese whisperer and statue-worrier. Paignton will never know what hit them.
An enjoyable set, Graham.

I am of the opinion that being a thin lime green line is rather becoming - for you - I do not suit green, however a subtle shade of puce is said to set of my lack of hair rather well.

Well done Mrs Trellis of North Wales for finally persuading our hero of the skies to reveal himself at long last.
It has to be said that his choice of venue for such a revelation ( and indeed it was a revelation to Gladice Nonooky, spinster of Tewkesbury, who had never seen such a thing!), the WI weekly meeting, was probably not particularly appropriate even if the applause was ear splitting. I'm told the collection held there after his arrest should cover both bail bond and barrister fees. ( they don't call him 'joystick' for nothing!)

Now where was I? Ah, yes, now your visage has been revealed to a waiting world, instantly recognised to all as a thin green line, your popularity at the next EB Soap box derby is guaranteed, tea and Tunnock will be strewn at your feet, Brian may well ask you to be best man at his wedding to Lizzie from the library ( don't keep a slot free in the Gussie diary though as in true Wodehouse style he has yet to ask her for a first date, and it has to be said his odds of success are akin to Spode getting the better of Jeeves in a battle of the little grey cells) and a free entry may well be yours to the prize draw, top prize of which is a week of library assistant duties, main task steadying the steps as Lizzie ascends to the dizzy heights of the upper shelves.

I digress, yet again,Blush, humble apologies old chap, great pictures, from a great place , taken by a chap of infinite silliness and humour. I doff my virtual hat!Smile

A fine set, Graham, and write up Smile

I was quiet bemused to see that during the World Athletics the Brit's were represented by: Great Britain & Northan Island.
Is Northan Island British or not? One has to ask ones self, and if not, why is there such a fuss about a 'back stop?'

A fine collection of close-ups, Graham - and especially that wonderful selfie in V1, I'm sure Mrs Trellis would be delighted with this 👍

I hope you remembered to forward a set of prints to, Mrs Trellis of North Wales.
She seems the sensible sort of personage who would most definitely eschew
the newfangled interpipe and still entrusts her communications to Her Majesty's
(once), most excellent Royal Mail postal service.
Nice to see Cyril sporting a wrist mounted compass (V1). Clever blighter...
