Yes, I think this works much better without the colour.

I hadn't really noticed previously that the door was ajar - the shadowy hint of interior darkness is much stronger here. I like that, I'm not sure that it needs the face. I think I would find it more disturbing without. But that's just how I see it.

Thanks everyone, big thanks Pete for the HC Smile. I must admit there is one small error, that I didn't spot until I uploaded, which has now been corrected in the original ( nobody has mentioned it yet)

Looks good in B&W Nick,a nice addition to the set.
Love the face in the slightly open door, very menacing & a good idea methinks.
Just watch the back of her right arm Nick, that shadow looks a wee bit on the heavy side.
I did like the colour version as you know but I see where you are coming from keeping the whole set mono.
A nice extra sticker too,well done !

Can't believe I didn't spot that Janet, I have a horrible feeling I will have a lot of layers to unpick to correct it too Sad )I think it will be too beg an area to clone effectively) - note to self, don't process after too many glasses of wine late at night.

Sorted ..I 've just put the corrected version up (i couldn't unravel the layers), like a plank I forgot to lock the very base "Dorothy" layer, and had inadvertantly painted on that. It would have meant a complete rework, so the clone tool had to be used I hate doing too much cloning - I'm C**p at it

There is also one other correction I mentioned earlier .. any more??

Thanks again Janet.

Its full of menace Nick ,

But Im still finding my eye drawn to the patterns of the leopard top , its leading and locking away the transition to the door. Its precision within the frame to precise.

mmm,

As you have all the layers , Id really try a version with Dorothy scaled right down to about the size of the mask and placed dead central in the doorway.

Its all there , just needs a little play with scaling .

Good series !

I will stick with this one Dave, the layers are too complex, and would take ages to unravell (there are numerous Nik Filter layers of the full image... I've just counted the layers theres 56 in total) - also, I made a mess of the base Dorothy layer (see comment above). Tho I do agree to some extent. This placing was because I was going to do something different with the door - but it didn't quite work.

I too dont particularly like the top now, but changing it now would ruin the continuity of the series. I have to finish it off for completion. But I will bare the comments in mind for other projects (besides you know I'm not affraid of a central composition.) With this it would need another element so your eye isn't taken front to back too soon (maybe a house number ...say 666).

Edit: I've marked it as constructive BTW, the comments from the likes of Janet, 'tother Dave and you throughout the sries havebeen brilliant, and have helped enormously (anyone new to DM's could do worse than go through the series and look at the comments - particularly those marked green.

Much better for me in BW and with those subtle changes Nick, though I'll leave any real critique till tomorrow when I look at it up on my desktop rather than down here on Mrs U's laptop.

V2 is much better without the splodge on her arm Nick,I see you have reduced the shadow on the Rat too.

V2 certainly the better version and it all looks so much better in BW ..... the tones are good, it's moodier and there's just so much more cohesion between the different elements of the image. The face lets it down a little for me but I understand why you've included a glimpse of something beyond the door. Maybe the doors should be open a little wider so more of the figure and it's surroundings could be hinted at? How about a subtle layer of swirling ground mist as well?

That's interesting Dave, the swirling mist was the other element I mentioned that I couldn't get to work convincingly. I may have another go, when I find out how.
