Down to a Sunless Sea

By sjatkinson
The title is from a book of the same name. A story about a 747 that is airborne while a nuclear war destroys its departure point and threatens its destination leaving it flying stranded over the far as I know Smile
This was taken on the day that Concorde made its final landings at Heathrow. The trouble was that the sky cleared before they arrived so I wasnt able to take the same style of shot with a Concorde in it which is what I was planning. This test image is one of a whole sequence with a 747. I did get Concorde later, albeit in a clear rather undramatic sky.
Solarised in PS (dont usually like playing with my pics but, hey)

Cant believe nobody has commented on this one Simon.I think the 747 looks great against that sky.I like the composition here as well as the large sky,it works well with the plane rising.

Great composition - like the way the plane is stuck at the bottom - suddenly the mighty 747 ain't so impressive anymore - agree with Pete - dunno why you didn't get more votes. Anyway, here's mine.

This has a real disaster movie feel for me padds - an exciting image, make for the front of an airport novel! lots of commercial appeal.... a seller!

THank you K babeeee! Its odd why it does not attract many votes....oh well. I still like it...solarised or not too Smile The title is from an armageddon story written by a pilot, where his flight is in the air while a major nuclear confrontation takes place and his previous departure point no longer exists so he cant turn back and then his destination is destroyed, and as other aircraft are in radio contact with each other they go silent, one by one. Its intriguing how I came to name it this too, I think its apt. I ll tell you sometime!
