Hi Bill... the first thing that you need to check when uploading for critique is whether the image horizon is level and this one clearly isn't. It is also suffering form being under exposed. this can easily be remedied using the levels histogram in photoshop.

In my mod I have straightened the image, lightened and added a small amount of saturation..... hope this helps.

A few problems to consider. You must get horizons straight, either when shooting or in processing. No horizon slopes like this. You are a bit under exposed and need to lift both brightness and contrast to give a more punchy image. Possibly a +1 stop correction could have been dialled in at the taking stage. Always try and take time to look at the image on your LCD so that you can correct and shoot again.

As a novice, take note of everything said in this section on other people's work. You can learn very rapidly indeed and a number of photographers regularly seen in this critique section have gone from beginner to very accomplished quickly.
