Drifting back

By mrswoolybill
Our favourite coffee shop did not reopen immediately last month. Now that it is open again, the regulars are drifting back cautiously.
The gentleman in the corner lives alone, just over the road. In 'normal' times this is his home from home.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

I hope that brew is fresh and hasn't been standing there since before lock-down began...

This has been a most wonderful sight of late. Being a tea drinker I have had to put up with coffee in a take away cup for a year now while we are out. Now we are back to pots of tea and reading the paper, no better way to pass the morning...

Great shot that works great in black and white, love the toning.

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from...

p.s. a perfectly composed shot and a little story to go with it.. can we ask for more?

The local charity cookery school (who ran the cafe's in the Councils main community centres) doesn't know when or if that facility will be opening again but the boss was asking me last week if they were to reopen there (very) small cafe in their teaching school would I use it again. In A Heartbeat was my answer.

I'll add:
Each tea lasts an hour,
Then he wanders home alone.

Thanks everyone, and thanks to Edward, Ollie and Leo for their UAs.
I'm having computer problems today following a Windows update yesterday. I've bagged some time on Bill's machine, but I may not be around much...

Excellent B/W and looks like a Brief Encounter still shot! Lovely narrative too Moira.

We had one yesterday and darn thing changed all the displays, messed with the printer's tiny brain and caused a whole lot of fuss! May never click, UPDATE again!

Good luck with it!

A delightful still-life, Moira, and like the inclusion of the 'regular' in the background - he'll probably be more regular now 😃👍

Love the wall textures and grain of the tea table Moira, a very evocative image. Nice that your neighbour is getting his second home back again.

Dave 🙂
This is abolutely lovely Moira! I love the way you've focused on the teapot and vase in the foreground but the subject matter is actually the neighbor. But then again it is also about having tea and being in a cozy environment. Wonderfully composed story here.

And us two. And two ladies by the window...
Nobody is throwing caution to the wind here. And talking to Karen the owner, we were counting up the number of regulars who have died in the last fifteen months. That's scary.

It is good to be getting back to some normality! It was a lot of the simple things, you take for granted, that you missed under lockdown. Your image gained by included the person in the frame, and including his story. A good composition with everything in the right place!
