Morning Herman, the Cape has some interesting stories and a good representation of some history is this Museum. James E Mitchner recorded some in his best seller"the Covenant" Enjoyed your comment on my pic, my blood is still boiling, Enjoy...John

A symmetrical composition for a symmetrical building which works very well! I'm surprised how much sky detail has been retained using your compact, it adds to the interest. The blurb is very interesting too thanks Smile
Being a bit picky, your horizon slopes off down to the right a little but that should be no bother to level with a crop. I really like the FG path and shrubs as a lead in and would be tempted to angle the camera down a little more if you ever re-visit, to make the lead in line even longer and stronger!

They put a lot of money and effort in this beautiful building to accommodate the Magistrate...Wink
Now its a Museum, but where are the visitors???Wink
there should be a long queue, like the lines I saw outside of bush hospitals...
apart from that is it a very well taken shot !!!

As you say Herman it was a building for Law and Order! From what I understand this has failed, my friends visited last year and were handed guns by their hosts and were not allowed out without guards, this was a great pity for them as it really spoilt their once in a lifetime holiday. On another note an excellent composition that a slight level will put right, and excellent exposure, great old building my friend.

A splendid photo Herman, they don't build'em like this anymore
As for "achierverswales" comment on law and order , I think that he should at least qualify his remarks by stating where his freinds were staying.

Just an update for Frank! They were staying in Johannesburg in the Province of Gauteng, staying at their friends home, just a note their friends have been robbed several times in the three years they have lived there, like most places there are good and bad people and also good and bad places, I was just stating a fact about them being given hand guns for protection, they did not even know how to use them and refused the offer.

this looks so Dutch, Friesland or Vriesland as it was spelt formerly! a fine, well composed shot
(just a tiny hint.. it is a good idea to overexpose while buildings/flowers slightly, it helps with the right white balance)
