Duddon Fern

By dathersmith
I was given a hot tip for a good Bluebell Wood but got there to discover that they were all dying off, will have to go back next year. However, not to be deterred I had a walk through the wood and came across some ferns bursting into life with the sun shining through the forest canopy onto them. Decided to use a large aperture to give focus to the fern and throw the background out of focus a little but looking now think I may have overdone it, would be glad to know what you think.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Darren.

It definataly focusses my attention on the fern so i reckon you've got it right, there is just enough detail in the woods to peer in as well.
I gave up on trying to shoot bluebells in the woods after a few attempts, all turned out crap so I resorted to sitting in the garden with a cup of tea in one hand, camera in the other doing close-ups!

Darren I think it works nicely and I too did focus in on the ferns without background distraction.

Well seen and conceived.

I think you have achieved what you set out to do,it focuse's your attention on that lovely light around the fern and the bluebells in the forground, as for the background Darren i would agree with john theres just enough detail there so its not overpowering,
the format makes this work well so all in all i would be happy with this Darren..

I think DOF is a little tight Darren. You have achieved what you wanted, and so that should be sufficient.
Good work.
