Dunstanburgh Head

By alansdottir
Another from the joint Gregory-Nobles trip to the North last November, taken on a pretty chilly morning just after dawn... and with apologies to Phil Nunez! (Another time, I hope... we will be back!)

The (in)famous black boulders are in evidence, as is the post dawn light... but only I could go to Dunstanburgh and not take this view to include the castle!

Thank you for looking...

Nice Capture. The foreground rocks have great detail.

The rocks are fabulous, they look alive, they're crawling out of the water.

Photos from a textbook, good composition.
Best regards! Jaromir

The misty surf in the fg and the reflected light off the black boulders are just perfect. But to exclude the castle from the overall composition makes this your very own. Only you...

I'm pleased that you didn't include the castle. It shows you're determination to put your own stamp on a scene.

Actually, I think I'd be tempted to exclude the castle, too. Only because I'd be too preoccupied with the shooting intimate shots of the famous boulders. Wink

You have captured that most gorgeous light together with that early morning mist. A superb image from the most beautiful place in the most beautiful county in Britain.

Lovely light on the rocks, and a composition that works very well (without the castle).

Very dramatic shot, Carol, and I love the sheen on those rocks!
