Dylan Thomas

By AshTree
Many thanks for commenting and clicking on my flower shadow images Smile.

Whilst in Wales we visited Laugherne, (pronounced 'Larne') and the Boathouse overlooking the Taf estuary where Dylan Thomas spent the last four years of his life.

There is a shed on the cliff above the house, accessed from the cliff road, which started out its life as a garage for a previous owner of the Boathouse, who had it built on cast iron stilts into the cliffside. Dylan Thomas used this as his writing shed and wrote, amongst other things, Under Milk Wood there.

The house itself is a Heritage centre and is open to visitors, but the writing shed isn't - though you can look through the glass panels in the doorway to see how it's been preserved. This photo is therefore not as sharp as it could be, as it was taken through the glass, but I thought it such an interesting scene.

Along the coastal path to the Boathouse, there is a shrine to Dylan Thomas, with an anchor and chain, together with two wooden plaques inscribed with verses from Under Milk Wood.

I am uploading versions showing the writing shed from the bottom of the cliff, the Boathouse, and some images of the little shrine. Thanks for looking - I hope you like them.

I can remember this on a trip out when on holiday in Tenby, back in 1992, I think it was. Great and interesting set of images, Theresa, thanks for sharing them with us...and yes, I can read the plaques!

Thanks for the information - I have seen various interpretations of Under Milkwood and am never bored. Your set of pics are also very interesting and I do like the patch of light on the floor in V1.
