Early Morning Bamburgh

By vulcanxh558
One from my holiday at Northumberland. This was taken on my 40d at a17mm focal length. Aperture=F22 and 1.6sec exposure with grad filter. I was aiming to get the line of the basalt rock leading the eye in a curve towards the castle.

The ground is well exposed but the sky is blown. Did you meter with the grad on?????
Try metering without the grad then go to manual mode, set the exposure and apply the filter.

A lovely part of the world and a great image. Composition has all the right elements and the foreground does lead you to the castle which is excellant. I would maybe have upped the saturation a little but only a little.

Classic scene, well composed and decent sky. The use of the rocks as a lead in is a good idea but maybe the rocks lack a bit of punch. I would try to inject a bit of contrast in the bottom third - I'll give it go in a mod. Steve.

Will try and increase the foreground contrast on the original. Thanks for all the comments.
