We took an early morning ride around the oldest parts of Bruges one chilly morning, and certainly needed the blankets we were given to put over our legs! It's really worthwhile though, and a planned stop takes place along route, in a lovely picturesque spot, for people who want to take photographs, Now who would want to do that?
The trip starts from The Market Place, for centuries, the most important Square in town. The foundations of the economic, political and social life were laid there. The Knights depended their titles of nobility, people dicussed about the Flemish textile industry and fought for freedom. The gallows and guillotine were there too. But there was also a 'freedom tree' which grew there.
Thankfuly though, the guillotine has long since gone, or I might well have fallen foul of it during my visit!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone, let's hope for better picture taking weather soon.
