The sun creeps over the roof tops of Dorsoduro tinting the imposing Palazzo Corner della Ca' Grande , now the seat of the province of Venice and of the city's prefect.

The vaporetto is at the Giglio stop, whose name comes from the nearby church of Santa Maria del Giglio. Giglio means lily, the flower associated with the Angel Gabriel and the Annunciation.
