Early Riser

By Trevhas
I thought we'd take it easy on our first day/night so had a lovely evening meal with wine. SmileSmile I wasn't expecting to go out for the sunrise, then Jet lag kicked in, we were both wide awake at 4am so invited Mrs T to her first sunrise.
I hadn't researched this place, i was going to do it in the daytime. So we headed down the road, 4 miles in total darkness towards the Bryce Canyon Nat. park and slowed down by the small signs lit by our torches until we came to one that read, Sunrise Point mmmmmm, maybe we should try this one.
I was first in the car park, a beautiful crisp night under a million stars we made our way through the silence by moonlight up the short trail, absolute magic ! SmileSmile

There was plenty of time for star pics, but no galaxies or astroids to make it special, then the horizon began to lighten and people began to gather at the point (by the tree ) and on the ridge where notices say " keep Off " " keep on trail "........................, I guess the Europeans had Jet Lag too WinkWink

Mrs T enjoyed it too but doesn't want to carry the tripod all the time SmileSmileSmile

Many thanks Kurt for your kind UA on my last pic, always appreciated SmileSmileSmile

great shot I remember it well. We stayed at Ruby's Inn just down the road, got up early (after a few Beers) and drove to the parking place before this, I wandered down into the canyon floor and it was very eerie on your own in the darkness, dawn came and it was superb, just the climb back up to the top with a tripod and a bag full of heavy gear, couldn't understand why I was not able to catch my breath, then you realise its the fact that you are 10,000 ft above sea level with little oxygen!
Great shot, thanks for reminding me

Yeah we stopped at Ruby's too Ian for one night, thought we'd have a chill out night after the drive up from Las Vegas.
After sun up I took a stroll down the canyon to Thors Hammer which is about half way down, careful not to walk too far down as its a strenuous walk back up and I was feeling a bit peckish so back to Ruby's for a well earned breakfast, bacon, sausage, egg and pancakes with lashings of maple syrup SmileSmileSmileSmile
