Earwig Orchid

By mattberry
The Earwig Orchid or King Ferdinand's Orchid Ophrys regis-fernandii

Found only on a few eastern Aegean islands and limited areas of mainland Turkey, this is a beautiful and curious looking orchid. Here I present a close up of one of the flowers, to demonstrate the insect-like appearance that gave it one of its common names.

Thanks for looking!
