East Lancs Railway, War Weekend

The East Lancashire Railway held a Second World War Weekend from 28th to 30th May 2005 at various locations along the route from Bury to Rawtenstall. Hundreds of visitors in period costumes and millitary uniform thronged the platforms. Four mock battles were held at the Rawtenstall station.......Battle re-enactment. The British won!

As usual, we met Germany again in the next round, then we were out

Or is that 'were due to meet Germany again in the next round, but failed to get out of the car'?

And I'll add that the German people I've met have been the sort of human beings I welcome as friends - and wish to continue to do so!
