Eilean Donan Castle

By Anthony
Hi guys

Large Version Recommended

Was in Scotland last week, shot some lovely stuff (well, I like it) and this is just one of those lovely images.

Although the island of Eilean Donan has been a fortified site for at least 800 years, the present building largely dates from the early 20th century. Today's castle, which rose from the ruins of its predecessor, was re-built between 1912 and 1932 by Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap.

I was actually on a Hebridean Birlinn when I took this shot. Its a replica of a Hebridean mid sized ship. More info available from here:-

Lord of hthe Isles

I hope its ok to put a link to their site, if its a problem, then I apologise.

I processed the image in Phase1, with a little tinkering in Photoshop. I have adjusted the exposure, a little saturation and contrast boost, and removed some distracting telephone poles etc.

Any and all comments are very welcome.

Thanks for looking.

Without a doubt the viewing angle makes this unique from that viking boat Smile

But I also love the dappled light on the mountains behind.
