EM-1 shoots Contra-Jour Kite Surfing

By brian1208
I had a quick visit to Avon Beach today to give my EM-1 and 75-300 a bit of a work-out shooting the Kite Surfers at play in the strong, gusty wind and bright contrasty sun.

It performed as well as I have come to expect focusing significantly faster than my EM-5 with the same lens.

This one was more or less directly into the sun, losing the bulk of the colour and detail of the kiter but I really liked what it did to the spray from the carving turn he is part way through.

I'll put up a few more "classic" kiting shots as Versions

We had a similar shot entered into our club Action Speed competition this evening. The photographer had not been able to get in as close so the impact was lost. The judge commented that, without being in close, he would like to have seen the kite/para sail.

that's the joy of a 300mm lens on an half-size sensor, you get a long effective field of view which when cropped works a bit like a 1000mm lens (hand-held! Grin )

He was a log way out in reality
