Emerald Swallowtail (Papilio Palinurus)

By teocali
This is an Emerald Swallowtail (Papilio Palinurus), found in S E Asia. I only caught one glimpse of this at Wisley and was lucky that it settled for a brief moment. The detail is not that sharp but the colours are rather beautiful. It would have to choose a shocking pink flower to settle on - a more muted background would have been preferable! Smile
Settings: F6.3, 1/250sec, EC +1.67, ISO200, aperture priority, handheld.

What a beauty, Sylvia. I was lucky to be able to open your pic, my connection has been terrible today, taking 10 minutes to open a pic if lucky, most I haven't even been able to open. Carol

Hi Sylvia,
A beautiful butterfly no doubt about that. You've done the best you can with the bright pink flower which it landed on, at least it is out of focus and there's some lovely detail in the wings, I always find that butterflies seem to be attracted to the most colourful perches which can be most annoying when you're trying to get decent shots of them. I like the presentation frame on #1 best.
Thanks for your comments on my Orchid and Lily shots. I will spare a thought for you when I'm in Cyprus in the sunshine next week Smile

Delightful capture with magnificent colour - I really like the presentation in V2 more, less competitive with the beauty of the butterfly Ina

Super capture Sylvia, this one eluded me all day. V2 for me as the borders are more subtle and don't take the detail of the butterfly away
