Emma

By answersonapostcard
The thing about Emma is she is really bubbly, great to work with, will try anything and will do anything to please no matter how hard it is for her. But the one thing I've noticed is that despite her outgoing nature there is a gentle, vulnerable side to her and I wanted to try and capture that in a portrait but she's hasnt got the easiest face - despite early nights she suffers from bags under the eyes (she's tried everything to get rid but nothing works).

I know the top of the strap is there but it was too much effort to remove and I liked the crop as is but I hope its not too significant to spoil this.

Anyway enough flippin waffle from me.

Nice comp. To be honest I didn't notice the strap until you said in the description because the eyes just hold you.

That girl has one intense look that is quite unnerving from the other side of the camera Smile)

This is a lovley portrait - the eye contact is good and I think you have captured her vunerable side well.
With shadowy eyes I some times use a combination of dodge, smudge and blur. Do it very gently with each tool on quite a low setting untill the shadow is effectivly blended out. Hope this helps.

Same here about the strap - had to look for ages to find it.

Funnily enough I've got one that's very similar to this so interesting to see how you've done it.

Very nice K, just enough softening with wonderful detail in the eyes. Great natural expression given more impact by good use of the crop...

"she's hasnt got the easiest face - despite early nights she suffers from bags under the eyes (she's tried everything to get rid but nothing works)."..............she is going to love you for that!

I think leaving the strap was a master stroke - there is some lvely texture and detail there that contrasts nicely with the smooth skin (despite the bags LOL).

I have added modifications to show how I would take it on a couple of steps.....they are not needed - it just shows ow i tend to go OTT
