English Electric Lightning

By DaveRyder
Not a great quality shot but a nice piece of UK aviation history.
I've tried to bring out the best in the shot with Luminar and FastStone.

Taken around 1979 with a Zenith E with a Sigma 100-200 zoom on AGFA Chrome slide film.
RAF Binbrook in Lincolnshire, one of the last Lightning Squadrons.
Magnificent aircraft even by todays standards.

For those who have never used one, a Zenith E is not naturally adapted to action photography.

I've never tried one with a long zoom... Some experiences, I can live without. Well done, Dave!

Is this the complete frame or is it cropped Dave. I just wonder because the grain is quite evident. Or is it that we're not used to seeing grain these days.
Nevertheless, a fine capture with not the most user friendly gear for this type of photography as John mentions. Mind you, it's of the same cold war vintage as the aircraft Smile

Keith, about a 50% crop.
The slide wasn't brilliant and then the copying lost some.
Luminar has helped bring some details out, sharpened, contrast adjustments and straightening.
The biggest enhancement was a suitable sky replacement with a degree of opacity to maintain the overall grain of the original.
