This is lovely. It instantly made me think of a snail shell or something like that. I love the pastel colours on the lit wall. Excellent work. Smile

Thanks for the comments everybody.

Jeanie, thanks for the mod. I think I prefer the warmth of the colour version but the b&w version is interesting.

Wow, what a perfect staircase to shoot. Good capture, I like it! And it does indeed look like a snails shell - thats the first impression the thumbnail made on me.

P.S. There are about 18 towns called La Rochelle in France, according to mappy.com. Which ons is this?

Thanks Conrad. Ile de Re is off the main La Rochelle, in Charente-Maritime. Beautiful place full of romance and history, the whole area is well worth a trip.

What a great shot Ian. The shell-like look is further enhanced by the slight mother-of-pearl feel to the walls.
At first it seems surreal, however, it's more of an illusion. Great POV.
Best wishes

stunning image, the perspective and depth are amazing and great composition too - it would work without the people but i agree they help to create more accuracy in the depth perception. it has already been said several hundred times but i must say myself that this reminds me of a snail shell or things like fossils helped by the colours on the walls which are also seen in shells.

keep up the great work, i hope i can find places as great as this to photograph myself =)
