From the looks of those lines there hasn't been a train along recently. Still, not a clever idea. Reminds me when I was a kid and we would put a halfpenny on the lines before the train came in the hope that it would be flattened. I don't recall any satisfactory results - in fact, I can't recall ever finding the coin damaged. I think the vibration of the coming train dislodged it first.
