That made me think about my own use and understanding of the term, so this is how the dictionary defines it: to divide, categorize, or deal with on the basis of gender distinctions. I think that for me, it's more about the insidious little ways that can be used to put women down, make them somehow 'less' than men or not as capable and the (still fairly prevalent) thought that women are there for cooking, cleaning, making babies and looking after the males of the species ... sod that for a game of soldiers!! (Unless it's by consenting choice, of course, in which case it's fine for those that like that kind of life
