Exploring the past

By HobbitDave
Taken exactly 40 years ago, my eldest son exploring Pentre Ifan in South Wales. Taken with my trusty old Minolta SLR.
The image was inspired by Kath (EPZ Cooky) and her fine upload yesterday.
Thoughts and comments welcomed.

They say that some events continue in a 40 year cycle, perhaps some of them do. Curiously, 40 years after this photo was taken, my son this year took his wife and the two grandchildren on holiday in Sweden to explore a very fine Viking stone megalith at Ale Stenner. The megalith is composed of huge stones in the shape of a Viking longship. See link below.

Thanks for the clicks and comments on my recent uploads, they are very welcomed and much appreciated 🐈

Love this with your son in the foreground Dave - genius! He is also wearing his finest wellies!

It is odd how life seems to follow patterns and lovely to have dropped into those memories.

Thank you for saying my image gave you inspiration, I think your images and lovely take on life inspires us each day.

40 years on and on film - definitely award worthy!

He looks so tiny next to that huge thing! Hard to believe how that stone was put there! A wonderful addition to your family album.

Thanks Christina. The capstone above him weighs16 tons, and the stone chamber, once fully earth-covered - is over 5000 years old. How they built it is still a mystery.

What a lovely image to have taken. A great memory for you. As to the other stones in the shape of a ship. I did not know they existed. You have educated me. Debs
