Sometimes you just get the right conditions for a shot...

...other times there's Photoshop Smile

Super shot. Pity about the branch(?) in the foreground though.

Thanks Boyd. Yes, it was a branch. I should have carried a step ladder with me! LOL!

Thanks Don - looks like I'm going to regret that branch...!

Great image, Matt, but the branch in the foreground has to go! Everything else is spot on, though - reminds me of 'The Tenth Kingdom'.

Mike - I'll get my chainsaw out (Photoshop version that is) and do some pruning! Thanks.

The sky is a big improvement on the usual photo's of this. Agree though, the branch needs to go!

It does have a certain Sci-Fi feel.

(Half expected to see the baubles rotating round the bottom of the dome Smile)

Thanks Sue, Jules, Steve and Gustavo!
Steve - yes, rotating baubles could be arranged! LOL!

This is another masking exercise. Both shots were taken on the same day. The building was sliced out using some neat tricks I've been learning, and placed on the sky. To add to the realism, I paid attention to the highlights of the building and recoloured them using a colour blend layer - to give the appearance of reflected sunrise/sunset. There'll be more...

Awesome shot Matt, if you put in that sky I'm impressed and if you didn't, well I'm still impressed.

With PS skills like yours you should be able to get rid of the branch.

Thank you Ian, I did put the sky in Wink
(Check out www.photoshopmasking.com - the techniques from her book are awesome!)
The branch is a real pain to get rid of because of the detailing around it. I have lessened the effect of the specular highlight, but actually cloning/patching it out is a challenge... I'm having a go, but it's proving difficult!

Nice bit of 'shopping - it has a sort of science fantasy feel about it.

This was a crop - on the left is more building. Perhaps I should have cropped harder. The middle bit is a fuscia that was in the way! Pruning sheers needed next time! LOL!

Great work, love the choice of sky, suits it perfectly.

It's just that little white strip from below the half way left side that distracts me a bit...think I would have cloned it out, I don't mind the fuchsia at all thoughSmile

Great shot, great work, great!

Thanks Patricia - you know I was looking so hard at the cut out and checking it that I completely missed that white strip. Serves me right!! Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.

Excellent, Matt. My suggestion is that you clone out the building and sky, and leave the branch. (President of the Fuzzy Branch Society.)

It is a shame about the branch, but it's all been said (lol @ Flindt!) Beautiful shot though Matt, really like this one.

Edit ...no, it's not Brighton is it? thought you'd been jetting off to some exotic far Eastern country

Anne - it does look exotic, doesn't it, and yes, it's Brighton (as you've never seen it before! LOL). Thank you.
