Face to Face

By Drummerdelight
Best when viewed large.

Once again I was asked if I would make a documentary of a local boxing championship in Bruges.
A intense experience actualy, full of emotion and action!
These two guys where fighting for the Belgium lightweight title.

This shot taken from about 4 feet away.
One has to be very fast to react... I 'm pleased to see I was lucky with this oldshool focus and recompose method capture.
I am aware there are some interesting features on my camera with focus and tracking stuff but I ended up choosing (and only trusting) single point focus and doing my utmost best to react as fast as possible.Tongue

Thank you for looking,
Guy

Brilliantly evocative... I am split between admiration for the men and women who box, and the way the sport can save people from a life of poverty (and maybe crime), and the fact that it's an organised attempt to concuss each other into unconsciousness.

Hard sport, hard choices...

Great image Guy, I love the way the light accentuates the expressions. A sport you wouldn't want your son doing, but then mine plays rugby and gets similar dangers from concussion. Sad

A good shot there and nicely lit I suspect without any flash. I nearly had an opportunity to do a boxing match but didnt due to a clash of dates, would still like to one at some point, I bet its difficult to nail but you done well here..Phil

Have to admit, I can't get out of the habit of focus and recompose, either, Guy, despite the aids built into the X-T2.

This, in my opinion, is one of your very best boxing shots.

You've captured the moment well.
This 'sport' isn't my cup of tea though I don't doubt the commitment etc. the guys put in and the drama you've captured here.
