Love this shot, great use of available light. 2 guys seems to be staring at the bulls butt. Hehe. Both versions are equally good.

Well this is a cracking shot! I'd say this is spot on cowgirl. The colour version is the best as there is so much in this that deserves th treatment, the fella dead centre has a priceless expression lol maybe thats his bull thats just gone cheap! funny how a lot of people seem to be looking in his direction as if to say I don'ts believes it I don'ts ooo arrrr.......

They are not staring at the butt - but the other attributes Wink
Lovely shot - reminds me of cattle auctions here in Texas. Both versions are first class images.

I really like what you have done here, this animal seems to have spce, poise and dignity while all the people appear to be cooped up together in a pen looking for all the world like a plate from Hogarth's Rake Progress.
A brilliant bit of table turning and a picture with a real Point Of View.
V.1 for me. the colours and sense of theatrical lighting are superb

ErK

I do hope this does it for you again.

Great story photo.

This is absolutely great Jojo. It's a real pleasure to view this one large. Great viewpoint with the farmers all around the object of their affection. A theatre indeed comes to mind. I assume that these places are rather scarcely lit ? So can I ask at which ISO you took this and which shutterspeed ?
Congrats btw... deserves an award

Hi Koen ISO 450, 1/30 at f10, 10-20 lens at 5.6 ish I think, there is a real bright spot in the centre of the auction room though as there is a lot of clear plastic roofing there, but it is fairly dark, it actually makes for a diffused soft light! Oh and camera is usually balanced on the rails for stability!! thanks for the comments....jojo

color by a mile. Theater indeed, reminds me of the Francis Bacon canvases of bull fights. Affection is the word. Bert

I can only assume that people have passed this by as at a glance the thumbnail just looks like a shot of a cow. It has to be viewed large to see the cow in context of all those faces behind. And the people are penned and the cow is free and vegetarians rule the world.

Seriously though Jo-jo ..... a most impressive shot.

The secret with this photograph is the expressions on the peoples faces - The 2 guys in the middle make it perfect - Perfect timing well done

Two superb market scenes, like them both. We no longer get these in Gloucester, the foot and mouth outbreak forced the cattle market to close, a B&Q warehouse (the largest in Europe) and a retail park now stand in its place

had to shortlist this one...
there seem to be some kind of vignetting in the top left corner, but aside from that; this is fantastic, and I keep looking...
