Faithful

By Glynn
On 26 April 2011 HMS Cornwall returned to Plymouth for the last time, and she was decommissioned on 30 June 2011. I stood on her flight deck and took this last image of her last return to Devonport dockyard. As we returned for the very last time, the tug Old Faithful saluted her with water canon and her horn blowing as loud as it could. HMS Cornwall decommissioning pennant was presented to the Davidstow Airfield and Cornwall at War Museum on 5 October 2011. The ship's bell was presented to Truro Cathedral on 18 October 2011.

Hi I.G. nice to see you posting, it's been a while.
This is a well captured moment of history and you were so lucky to be there at the time.

Thanks Janet,
I was invited by the Royal Navy to sail on her from Gibraltar to Plymouth for 8 days and make a photo journal book which I did.

That was such an honour I.G. what a privilege to be involved in an event like that.
