A chilly late afternoon on the fringes of Rannoch Moor. The tops of Am Monach Dubh have experienced a taste of winter, and in the foreground, the birches beside Lochan na Stainge have lost all their leaves in readiness for the harsh conditions ahead.
There was a light shower of rain (snow at slightly higher altitude, of course) at the time that I took this, blown almost directly towards me on a stiff wind. The light was appealing though, catching the silvery bark on the birch trees, and bring out the warm tones of the grasses.
