Fallen Fruit

By Irishkate
This fallen 'fruit' was at side of the cycle path one morning - it came from a 'palm like tree' but no idea what it is or how the 'fruit' had become detached from the tree. Plenty birds around who may have opened it up - snakes are around this area too - not sure what other animals live in the forested area alongside the path. Because of the snakes I don't venture much into the woods!
Thanks to all for V&C for The Cycle Path. Hugs to Billy for his kind UA.
Sorry if I don't get round to a comment - life is a bit busy at moment.

Some pretty vicious looking spiky bits!

of course i would advise you against tasting it, before you ask the locals - it might turn out more poisonous than all the snakes in the area

It's more of a seed sack than a fruit. And the seeds are very attractive, Kate.

It's more likely the Yellow tailed black cockatoos that eat those cones. They come through in flocks daily looking for these trees
