Family Group 1904

By RosaB
This is a family group from 1904. It shows my Daughter-in-laws grandmother [little girl on left about 8yrs old] and great grand parents and family. So these are my Grandsons great grandmother and great -great grandparents.

V2 is the original as you can see it has been very badly damaged. At present all I have done is cloned out all the scratches and very slightly cropped it to neaten the edges.

I had intended working on it to improve the levels and lighting but if I do this now the cloned areas go darker and look like stains! Can anybody advise? should I have done this before cloning? Help!!
Edit: I have since sorted this problem out myself! It was because I had done the cloning on a new layer. once I had flattened it I could work on it to improve the levels colour etc! We learn from our mistakes!

V3 In this version I have cloned in an eye for the lad at the back left I have also increased the colour of the sepia tone and darkened the highlights.

All opinions, advice and comments very welcome

Thankyou Richard they are fantastic! I will have to have ago at that and I can see I will have to clone a bit more around the lad at the back's eye as it shows up even more on these!

You're welcome Rosalie, I thought it was a monocle on that eye, so I manipulated it to look more like one, which is probably why it stands out even more so now Smile

Your Mods are much better than I could achieve Banehawi. But now I can see what can be done I will have another go!

Never thought of a monocle Richard LOL! It was difficult trying to clone around the eye!

This is a great old photo, enjoyed working on the mod. I forgot to add that I added a sepia photo filter set to "color" at about 65%.

Lisa

You did a great job taking out the scratches. Smile

Woooow! 6 mods! How kind and helpful you all are! I do appreciate it

Thankyou Lisa I will try all your suggestions and PM you if I get stuck. I particularly like your 2nd mod [6] because it has brought out so much detail in the faces [as did Richards]
