Everest Base Camp Trek-October 2011, approaching Lobuche Village (4930m) with few important peaks in the background: Lingtren (6697m)left hand side, Khumbutse (6640m) in the centre and the ridge of Nuptse (7879m) on the right hand side; portering is the most common sense of living in Himalaya; adults, teenagers and even children boys and girls would get involved in a such strenous activity (portering) which will guarantee just enough income to make their survival in an extraordinary enviroment (Himalayan Plateau). Despite the regulations set up by the Himalayan Porters Union which allows porters to carry no more than 30kg per back, I witnessed during my trip the locals struggle to earn more in one go, breaking any rule, so therefore some of them will carry on their back enormous weights such as: sofas, armchairs, huge logs etc, while turists were struggling to carry their own rucksacs.
